Job Summary: 

Reporting to EagleNXT’s Vice President of Operations, the Certification Engineer we are seeking should have expertise with aircraft regulations (14 CFR Part 21.17(b) and 135 are strongly desired), regulatory guidance and policy, means of compliance approaches, type certification processes, as well as building and leading a team of aviation certification experts.  The candidate should be comfortable working internally with engineering, project management and operational teams, as well as also working with external customers to create and deliver certification and regulatory assistance products and services.  

Key Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with Business Development/Sales on strategic development of products and services necessary to deliver repeatable regulatory support to customers. You will be a technical and regulatory expert on products and the regulatory environment.  
  • Lead all regulatory efforts internal to EagleNXT, including but not limited to: 
    • Strategy for compliant Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations 
    • Exemption/waiver creation supportive of UAS operations 
    • Providing operational parameters to ensure compliant UAS operations 
  • Provide cross-functional product and services direction across departments to:  
    • Guide test methodology, system documentation and other regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and CAA requirements 
    • Evaluate data about our products’ performance and find new ways of presenting this data to support the wider public regulatory team’s work 
    • Ensure safe and scalable product delivery across Product, Engineering, and Research and Development teams. 
    • Advise EagleNXT’s executive leadership on industry, standard and regulatory affairs to enable product and professional services across the company as well as educate sales team members to enable revenue expansion 
    • Provide leadership and support the regulatory team’s input into standards and developing regulations 
  • Establish and lead a team of aviation policy, standards and support staff to effectively execute on regulatory, UAS certification, and waiver writing services. 
  • Develop Regulatory strategies for our respective customer’s products and professional services. 
  • Develop tailored technical documents for our customers in support of their UAS operations. 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the FAA UAS Integration Office and other pertinent FAA departments to ensure EagleNXT certification products and services meet and exceed FAA and customer requirements 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  •  Demonstrated experience working with regulators on complex issues within the transportation sector 
  • Record of developing complex safety cases 
  • Experience within aviation standards, rulemaking, type certification and product certification 
  • Part 107 Certificate or FAA pilot certification (Private/Commercial) 
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent professional experience 
  • Experience managing large projects with stakeholders including local/state government, corporations and regulators 
  • Experience managing and motivating a team (for a large project or permanent team) 
  • Superb written and oral communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Within this you: 
    • Can think critically about the information that you develop;  
    • Can structure information logically and consistently; and 
    • Can think through the necessary stakeholders and other priorities to direct resources appropriately. 
  • Experience technical writing and navigating regulations within the aviation industry 
  • Able to work cross-functionally, collaborating to develop materials with input from multiple teams, both within the organization or externally with customers. 
  • Information gathering and interviewing skills  
  • May work remotely, but be willing to travel to Wichita and other areas of the country, as necessary.
